Stop and Smell the Roses

After a rainy Saturday with deserted streets and indivduals darting from one covered shelter to another, the liveliness of the city bloomed Sunday as thousands of people made their way to one of the many gorgeous parks here in Madrid. Being a much needed lazy weekend, Sunday evening consisted of a stroll through this lovely rose garden filled with couples holding hands and elderly people chatting on park benches. Birds chirping in the distance and trickles of water cascading from the fountains created a serenety within my soul. All this found in the center of a huge city. It is almost like your own Secret Garden, just not so secret like Frances Hodgson Burnett’s novel. Just perfect to stop, relax, appreciate, and smell the roses.
